Ecphrasis of a New Dawn

Echphrasis (n) : a literary description of or commentary on a visual work of art.

This string quartet is inspired by the 1959 scifi novel A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller Jr which takes place a thousand years after a nuclear holocausts refered to as the 'Flame Deluge' resets humanity to the middle ages. The rements of advanced technology become integrated as mystical artifacts that shape the religion of this era. Ecphrasis of a New Dawn explores the ideas of rebirth, redemption, and flame presented in this book.
